I had to do an update tonight as I’ve recently received some fantastic new Spheres for the gallery. Thanks for the great work everyone. Oh and for those that have been waiting it looks like CompositeMode will be available for R6 this week. Stay tuned. 08/17/04 I spent part of this week down in LA attending Siggraph. Its always a nice diversion and a good opportunity to see the friends that you only run into once a year and make some new ones too. I didn’t have the time to take the courses which was a shame as work was calling, but it was still time well spent. There’s always something cool to see on the show floor as well. Being a big fan of procedural graphics I should mention one of the cool pieces of technology I saw both this year and last is produced by allegorithmic, a software firm based in France. They are doing some very cool work with procedural texture generation with the added twist that the procedurals can be manipulated in a hands on fashion. To get a better look at what I mean talk a look at their site. I think they are on to something unique and can’t wait to see where it takes them. Keep up the great work guys. Also worth a plug, is the new suite of tools being developed by nPower Software, makers of the outstanding Power Solids / Power Booleans plugins for both Rhino and Max. Im not shure what all they have mentioned publicly but Im sure that there will be some more news on their site about it shortly. Oh and if that wasn’t enough, I’ve received some pretty cool Spheres in the last few weeks. Thanks for the great contributions. 08/13/04 Things are picking up again at work. We have just started Frank Miller’s & Robert Rodriguez's Sin City and it looks like a very cool project. In the meantime I just enough time for a bit of code and art as well as that thing called life I’ve been told so much about. There are also three new Spheres for the gallery, take a look if you get the chance. 07/24/04 Its been a bit quiet around here as of late, this update should be the start of more regular news. A little over two weeks ago I finished up working on Sky Captain and was then able to take a much-anticipated vacation! I had been planning on visiting my family in part due to the expected arrival of my brother and sister in laws first child. Talk about nice timing, the nigh I arrived so did my Nephew Emmett. Congrats Chris and Marci, he is such a cutie, and I plan on spoiling the kid rotten! I had a very relaxing time and it was great to see everyone. It looks like things are going to be starting up soon at work on another cool project, but in the meantime I'm going to try and get back to a bit of code, artwork and a web revamp if time permits. I apologize to all of you that I have replied to in email and all those that keep asking for R6 versions of the plugins. The good news is that the recompiles should begin to happen here shortly. Also there are some other cool things in the works, so hang in there. In another note there are 11 new entries in the Sphere gallery. For those of you that posted last month and have been wondering if your work had disappeared into the ether, never fear. That's about it for tonight but I hope to be back here soon. 07/05/04 Yet another month has flown past and I have no clue where the days have gone. Not much to update, but there are a couple of new Spheres for the gallery. One of these days I'm going to have to find the time to update this beast. 05/31/04 Wow! A month has gone by since the last post. I've been sitting on several new Spheres for the gallery so those are getting posted today. In other news I just finished up a commercial for Pepsi Japan featuring "Pepsiman", and now I'm working on some shots for SkyCaptain and the world of tomorrow. The fun never seems to end. 04/25/04 I found a few minutes today to finish up an image for the Sphere gallery that I had been sitting on for several months. 03/27/04 Hellboy is done, and the work that the Orphanage has done for it looks fantastic! I'm really proud to have had the chance to be a part of the creative process. The hard part is now waiting till April 2 so we can all see the results. As a result I can almost say I'm a free man, and its high time the site receives a bit of attention. In addition, I've been getting a fair amount of mail asking for recompiles for the max plugins. I'll see if I can get back to them here in the next month or so. Please have patience with me on this. It generally isn't as simple as pushing a button, so I hesitate to give a date on when they may become available. In the meantime, there are a few new Spheres up in the gallery. Enjoy! 03/21/04 I still have a few more weeks to go on the effects work for Hellboy but I thought I would take a moment to post 4 new Spheres. See ya. 02/14/04 It's been nearly a month since the last post and I've really been meaning to do a bit of work around here. I had nice couple weeks of vacation, which was restful if not productive. The only problem was that as soon as I got back into town it was time to go to work again. It's getting towards to the end of the project that I'm on and there is still a fair amount to do. I expect to be spending a bit of time at the office so no promises of much happening around here till March or so. Along the same lines no news on the R6 recompiles for the plugins, stay tuned. Oh, and there are a few new Spheres up in the gallery. 01/19/04 There's not been too much going on with the site as of late. I'd love to say that I've been working on some cool personal work but it's just not the case. I have done a bit of maintenance on the site tonight in the form of removing the flash logo from all the pages save for the open one. I've known for some time that its fairly cpu intensive and some people were having a hard time looking at the site without their systems grinding to a halt. If you stumble across any pages that I've missed please let me know. I'm going to try to get a bit more work up in the gallery before the end of the year. In addition I was asked the other day when I plan on recompiling the plugins for R6. At this point I don't know. I haven't started using it myself in production nor have I picked up the new compiler necessary to make them work for the new version of Max. I'm sure I will do it at some point but not for a while. In other news
I can say that work is going great. In fact you can see some of what I've
been up to if you check out the recently released HellBoy trailer! Nuf
