Larry Gritz has come up with a fairly nice representation of wood in his Oak solid procedural found in The Advanced Renderman book. I've grabbed his code and extended it just a bit to what you see here.

History

With the release of the first set of maps I'm going back to some of the other ones that had been roughed in awhile ago. Oak is one of the maps that have been sitting around fairly feature complete for a while now. Some polishing, testing and docs creation is all that's left for it to be good to go.
